24 hour urine collection
- Before the collection is started, obtain a 24 hour urine container from our laboratory.
- Keep urine refrigerated or on ice during the collection and prior to submission to the laboratory.
- Assuming a 24 hour collection period will begin at 7 am, start the collection at exactly 7 am by emptying the bladder and discarding the urine at that time. All urine produced during the next 24 hours is collected. At exactly 7 am the following day, empty the bladder collecting that specimen to conclude the collection.
